A North Carolinian has died after being found stabbed multiple times in his home in Durham, authorities said.
The body of Robert P. Allen was discovered by a woman outside his home Wednesday night.
The Durham County Sheriff’s Office said a 23-year-old man is charged with first-degree murder in the death.
The Durham Police Department said they were notified of the death by a neighbor.
The department said the home had been burglarized sometime between March 31 and April 1.
Deputies were called to the residence around 8:30 p.m. after the homeowner heard the victim say his neighbor was upstairs, according to a statement from Durham Police.
When deputies arrived, the victim was unresponsive and pronounced dead.
The homeowner told them Allen had been inside the home.
The sheriff’s office said Allen was a metalworker for ConocoPhillips, which makes sheet metal.
The company said it had no comment.
